As I will install various instances of plumbing in the tower, there are a few things to consider. One of them – I need a venting pipe from the plumbing system, not only to facilitate the flow of the system and prevent clogging up, but also to vent unpleasant odors.
I really don’t want a brand new, flashing stainless vent, nor anything made out of plastic. So I headed over to eBay and eventually came across this gorgeous, cast iron vent grid, according to the seller made somewhere in the late 1800s. As that is roughly the same time period the tower was erected, I bought it from the nice Argentinian gentleman selling it. The idea is to drill out a 50 mm hole in the brickwork and finishing it off with this amazing find, I just have to clean it up a bit first.
