Håkan getting busy with his digger

Over time, tons of soil has pushed its way from top of the lot towards the tower, I guess every year when the snow melts this phenomenon occurs. In fact, once we got the masses removed from the building we realized that the soil has mounted almost 1 meter above its original level.

This not only looks bad, but eats away at the brick work and also transfers moisture through the northern wall of the tower every spring, as the snow thaws away. Today, Håkan took care of that problem with his digger, masterfully operated without any use of roto-tilt. Just pure craftsmanship.

Once we get into actual yard/garden design and layout, my beloved wife will bring her 5 ton digger to the yard for a bit more of landscaping action. This will probably not happen until spring 2020 though.

Note the darker shade on the lower part of the tower wall – that’s how high the soil has climbed over the last decades.
