Cast iron piping – bye bye

The tower still holds some old iron piping used to lead water up to tank and consequently, on to the giant external “snorkel”, used to feed the old steam locomotives.

After beating the living crap out of the base of the piping to get it loose from its foundation and cutting off a support bracket with a side grinder, Peter Crane begun lifting out the century old, HEAVY cast iron junk of the tower. It remained intact throughout the journey and now rests safely on the ground outside the tower.
