Daniel Halldén, or “Franke” as he’s known to his peers, carefully listened in to my idea of shortening the old lamp approx. 300 mm to make it better work as an over door lamp. We measured the inner space to make sure the new electrical fitting should fit, making sure there’s also a ground wire attachment screw in the plan. Then he got to work.
Franke lathed out the center of the lamp and then went ahead to fashion a new, countersunk aluminum base for the new electrical lamp base. He made it detachable so that it’s easier to perform the electrical installation. He secured it with 2 screws and washers.
The lamp shade was extremely grimed up with moss and other dirt, and some rust had made its way to it as well. With a gentle hand, Franke media blasted the shade without eating too much of the metal.
Right now, all parts are there. We just need to powder coat & assemble. Any day now!
