My clever builder friend Peter nonchalantly and in a why-would-anyone-do-it-any-other-way? …manner just delivered the solution to the broken roof: Let’s build the roof in 2 sections off-site, and have a crane lift it in place. Duh. Of course! Said and done – yesterday we headed down to the tower to first hand assess the damage the storm had inflicted on the structure, but also to take all necessary measurements – on the building itself but also on the severed roof resting on the lot in front of the structure.
This solution will be cheaper, more efficient and will also eliminate the need for a 12 meter scaffolding surrounding the tower for weeks & weeks.
While visiting the tower, I took the opportunity to verify previous measurements and knock down some old brick & mortar from the “top floor” – i.e. the beams where the water tank used to be.
